Not only is this neat and easy to use (the little lid slides back over nipping sticky drips in the bud), it has a definite "pancake house" appeal. Use it for maple or fruit syrups, or honey.
In addition to being decorative, the stoneware is completely functional. It is oven, dishwasher, freezer, microwave safe; lead and cadmium free, non-toxic, impervious to abrasives, fired at temperatures in excess of 1350 degrees centigrade; able to distribute heat evenly and retain foods moisture while baking. As with any stoneware, these instructions should be followed: Allow the pottery to come to room temperature before placing in an oven/microwave or place the pottery in a cold oven and allow it to pre-heat along with the oven to the desired cooking temperature; Bring the pottery to room temperature before placing in a refrigerator or freezer; Ensure that the pottery is placed in the dishwasher without touching other dishes; Do not place the pottery in an open flame or on a range top burner.

Our 16 oz pitcher is great for syrup, milk, cream, sauce or gravy! Measures approximately 4 1/4" H. Boleslawiec stoneware originated as folk art in the early 1800s. It was handcrafted in the German province of Silesia, now a part of Poland. Inspired by the peacock feather, farmers produced the original designs using carved potatoes to create patterns in earth-tone colors. Today, artists of Ceramika Artystyczna continue this folk art. The artists use natural sea sponge to hand apply the lead-free paint to their creations. New colors as well as variations of the traditional blue, green, and sienna have been added to the artists color palette. The artists are extensively trained which is evident in their artwork. The artists offer a Traditional Line and a Signature Line of stoneware. Both lines are handmade and hand painted. The Signature Line artwork is hand signed by the artist and the Traditional Line artwork is initialed by the artist. Due to the uniqueness of the pottery making/painting process, no two pieces of stoneware are exactly alike. Variations in color, pattern and shape make each piece of the stoneware an individual piece of artwork.
